Has anyone successfully installed this utility?
Ive been trying for days to install this.
Im using FreeBSD 4.4-RELEASE
from the /usr/ports/graphics/ImageMagick directory i run make and get this mess:

You should always cvsup ports before attempting to install from ports.  And make sure all port categories that might contain dependencies are not excluded from your cvsup.
In this case it looks like imagemagick has a  dependency on ghostscript but it isn't finding the version it expects.

Well, it says
  Make sure the Makefile and distinfo file (/usr/virtual/share/usr/ports/print/ghostscript-gnu/distinfo)
.  If there is some bug preventing the install, most likely it would've been fixed in a later version/

sorry, but im still a bit confused. When I try to make ImageMagick does it try to make or install all of the progams or libraries, and one or more of them is not up to date? Also what does checksum mismatch mean

When installing from ports, the makefile has a list of all apps that the port being built has a dependency on.  If those apps aren't installed, it tries to install them via the ports collection.  If it can't find the version of the app it's looking for in the ports, it fails.
  Also what does checksum mismatch mean
The checksum is an md5 hash of the file.  If the md5 hash of the actual file doesn't match what is expected, then the file is considered corrupted.
Did you read the cvsup info I linked to?
