abstract:

  Just for people to be aware, the top section is Flash, and it will be very obvious that you've landed on the Coding Monkeys website and the top section is recent projects, which is hard to see from the mock-up.

I don't think we're going to go with this version now, but this is the revised version of our company website, and I'd be interested in any thoughts in its current stage.  Just for people to be aware, the top section is Flash, and it will be very obvious that you've landed on the Coding Monkeys website and the top section is recent projects, which is hard to see from the mock-up.

I think it is a bit fru fru for a web development company.  A little dark too. Personally I like to see me dev companies be pretty straight forward, no nonsense.
This might be better for a pure design company.

id have to partially agree with moonbeachx. it is a little dark and a little bit magical for a web development company. however i do like it!
a few points though?>
+ all your internal boxes are rounded why isnt the bottom right one underneath coding monkeys news
+ obviously its a picture but id be interested in how the rest of your site navigates
BTW.... is that real news about you guys redesigning something for Google? what are you guys gonna be doing?

I appreciate the feedback.  We're primarily a website design company, so it seems the most logical thing to provide a new design that isn't like anything else out there.  We don't do any development work on its own, so if we're hired, we're doing the design + development, or just the design - never just the development.  I wasn't too keen on the "moodyness", but it grew on me.
As for the curve, it was decided not to have too many of it, so that the section would stand out on its own, and not be associated with our services.
I wish the Google part were real ;-)

ok that makes a little more sense. then yeah being a design company it makes sense to be a little bit special and not mundane (if thats how you spell it)
my only concern is that because the design you have chosen (in my opinion) is quite magical / fairy tale it may turn some of your customers of the idea of hiring you. i knw that isnt very constructive by not suggesting something as an imporvement but possibly something both "funky" but creative.

Nah, I do appreciate the feedback.  As I said, we're not running with it anyway, but I'm still a great fan of it and wanted to see what people thought.
Goes to show the personality involved in a design, as I absolutely hate that stickee website, as does my designer.  Bit of a coincidence, though, as they're based in my home town.

looks all ok to me, clean and well-organized, it's only the logo picture, I just don't feel any association with an artistic designers bureau... but maybe it's me ... for the rest ... I envy you on the design, will take me some more time to create clean pages like that

The imagery is absolutely stunning and I love the vines, too.  I agree with the others about the Flash (slow to load, overused, and the sound effects.)  But otherwise it looks great.  I would expect to fork out a lot of cash for your services, and it would be worth every penny.
I noticed on the About page that some of the text gets cut off on the right hand side in IE6 and Firefox 1.5.  (see attachment for screenshot)
Also it took me a minute to realize the testimonials rotate automatically on a time delay, as well as when a button is clicked.  I would read the testimonial, then click a button just as the text was rotating by itself, so I would catch the first few words of one testimonial and suddenly it was gone, replaced because I'd clicked the button.  Does that make sense?  Maybe it's just me.  It is after 1 am here.  But I think it should be either on a timer or on click, not both.  A minor point to be sure.
Overall a great site.  Excellent work!
